Women’s Health and Fertility

You are not alone! At least one in six couples in the United States grapples with infertility, a significant aspect of women’s health. This statistic underscores the emotional burden faced by over 7 million US couples each month as they navigate the challenges of conception.

For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has utilized acupuncture and Chinese herbs to actively treat infertility and optimize fertility functions. This involves manipulating the flow of Qi and nourishing, supporting, and strengthening Qi, blood, and internal organs. By correcting imbalances and restoring health to the body, mind, and spirit, TCM can actively enhance or restore both men’s and women’s fertility.

Exceptional Care and Your Journey to Conception and Beyond

Dr. Eileen Zhuo, founder of the Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Center, practiced as an OB/GYN doctor in China. She provided nutritional consulting for the Federal Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC) and worked as a laboratory assistant at the Reproductive Laboratory of the University of Washington. With knowledge, experience, and passion, Dr. Zhuo initiated her TCM private practice in the States in 1996. Women’s health care, including fertility care cases, constitutes up to 60% of her total patient care.

While all acupuncture clinics offer treatments for infertility, they vary in quality. At the Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Center, we prioritize providing comfortable, safe, and trusted care. We offer comprehensive and supportive programs for our patients, whether they seek to enhance fertility naturally or through Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) such as IUI or IVF. Holistic Fertility and Pregnancy Support Service

Our Fertility Health Care Includes:

A. Preconception Care and Education – Planning for a healthy baby
The health of the parents before and at the time of conception, in addition to the mother’s health during the early times of her pregnancy have an important influence on the health of the baby. We recommend that patients start their fertility care (regular acupuncture treatments, Nutritional supplements/Herbs and healthy lifestyle changes) 3-4 months prior to conception (especially for an IVF cycle).

B. Consultation and Treatments
Over 45% of infertile couples are medically diagnosed as having an “unknown cause” for their infertility. Using TCM theories and diagnosis methods in conjunction with the medical diagnosis and test results, we provide acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle recommendations.

1. For natural cycles (and non-medicated IUI):
We utilize specific treatments tailored to your current cycle phase and address any imbalances, such as PMS symptoms. Our aim is to regulate your menstrual cycle using acupuncture and Chinese herbs to enhance the chances of conception.

2. For Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART)-IVF, ICSI, IUI & Superovulation:
Each of the above technologies has its specific protocols. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve IVF results.

C. Support during pregnancy
We administer treatment to reduce the likelihood of miscarriage, alleviate morning sickness, address depression, and alleviate back pain/sciatica, as well as to reposition a breech baby. Additionally, we provide preparatory treatment for labor or labor induction and breastfeeding.

D. Postnatal support
Treatment will be performed for poor lactation, depression, and healing after C-section.
